Text To Speech

[ Text - Speech... Ctrl+E ]

Instant Demo supports the Microsoft Text to Speech technology.  The callout text in your presentation can be spoken by the default text to speech voice on your computer.  To enable speech for your callout text, right click in the editor window and select Speech (or type Ctrl+E) to display the Speech Settings window.

Use Microsoft Speech: Check this option to speak the callout text.

Listen: Click on this button to hear the spoken callout text (or alternate text).  You can also Preview your presentation to hear the result.

Alternate Text to Speech: Alternate spoken text can be entered here. The text entered may contain XML Text to Speech tags.  Use this option to control speech attributes such as pitch, speed, voice, etc.  More information on setting these options using XML can be found here

Insert callout text:  Click on this button to insert the callout text into the alternate text editor.

Select voice:  Click on this button to change the default voice.

Note:  When exporting to Flash or video the speech is captured as a sound file. Text to Speech is not required on the computer used to view your final presentation.

Note on alternate text: The alternate text can be used to narrate your movie without requiring a talk bubble.  By default the spoken text will play along with your movie.  To pause the movie while the alternate text is being spoken, click on the button in the Instant Demo editor.  This will automatically set the frame delay to the required duration.
